Whole Wheat Mawa Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp grated carrot
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 2 tbsp wheat bran
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4 tsp melted butter
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 5 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ tsp fruit salt
  • for the topping
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the wheat flour, wheat bran, raisin, carrots and baking powder in a deep bowl, mix well and keep aside.
  2. Combine the butter, milk, honey and vanilla essence in another deep bowl and mix well.
  3. Add the flour mixture and mix well using a wooden spoon or spatula.
  4. Add the fruit salt and mix gently.
  5. Place 11 paper cups in 11 muffin moulds of a muffin tray.
  6. Drop 1½ spoonfuls of the batter into each muffin moulds.
  7. Sprinkle a little of brown sugar on top and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c for 10 to 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a muffin comes out clean.
  8. Cool slightly and serve.
