Chicken Cafreal

Ingredients

  • 500- gram chicken leg
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • Marinade
  • 1 cup coriander leaves with its stalk
  • ½ cup Mint
  • 5 green chilli
  • ½ inch cinnamon
  • 8 peppercorns
  • 3 tsp cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1- inch ginger
  • 5 garlic cloves

Instructions

  1. Roast the whole spices till they release their aroma.
  2. Grind coriander, mint, ginger, garlic, green chilies and the roasted spices with 1/4 cup water in a mixer to a fine paste.
  3. Slit the chicken to make small cavities in it and add salt, turmeric and 1 tbsp lemon juice along with the green spice mix.
  4. Coat the chicken well with the spice mix and marinate for 4 hrs.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken till it gets browned from both the sides.
  6. Use the spice mix water and add it to the chicken.
  7. Cover the pan and cook it for 15 minutes or till the chicken is cooked.
  8. Drizzle the remaining lemon juice on the chicken and serve.
