The best partner for a lonely cup of tea. Minty Chickpea Tikki is an easy to make recipe which is also healthy. Chickpeas are rich source of fibre which help in digestion, spinach being an excellent source of vitamin K, carrot rich in antioxidants and with the refreshing flavour of mint, this recipe is the healthy replacement to a perfect tea snack.

Minty Chickpea Tikki


To Wet Grind

  • 1 cup chickpeas soaked overnight
  • 1 sprig mint leaves
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 green chillies
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves

Other Ingredients

  • ½ cup spinach finely chopped
  • ¼ cup onion chopped
  • ¼ cup carrot finely chopped
  • ¼ cup cabbage finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mint leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil for shallow frying


  1. Soak chickpeas overnight or 6-8 hours and then drain completely.
  2. Grind it with the ingredients under the heading "To Wet Grind" to a coarse paste. Sprinkle very little water while grinding, around 2 tbsp.
  3. After grinding, transfer the ground chickpeas mixture to a bowl, add salt, spinach, onion, carrot, cabbage, mint leaves and mix everything well.
  4. Pinch small balls from the mixture and make flat round shape patty with your palms.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tikkis on both the sides till they turn light brown.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney.
