Enjoy the goodness of paneer and peas together. Peas are starchy but high in fibre, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B 6, vitamin C, vitamin K, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and lutein. Matar Paneer

Ingredients

  • 250 grams paneer
  • 200 grams fresh peas tender
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1- inch piece ginger roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic roughly chopped
  • 100 ml tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon whole jeera
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon dhania powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon fresh coriander finely chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry onions, ginger and garlic.
  2. Once they are soft and golden-brown grind to a paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add jeera when it splutters add the onion ginger garlic paste. Sauté for a few minutes, add tomato puree and cook till oil separates.
  4. Add the salt, dry spices and sauté briefly, and then add the peas.
  5. Stir fry for 2 minutes until brightly coloured.
  6. Add about 1/2 cup water and stir continuously until gravy begins to thicken.
  7. Add the paneer and cook on simmer, covered, for 5 minutes
  8. Add more water as required.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander.
